Could energy costs be saved if I cleaned my roof?
Yes. When a car is black, has black interior, or if you are wearing black, it will feel warmer in the sun. This is because black absorbs more heat than any other color. Your black shingles will thus absorb more heat during the hot, summer months, resulting in warmer temperatures inside of your home. You can most definitely save on energy costs if your roof is clean, without black streaks or areas.
Would you need to walk on my roof during a roof cleaning?
No, we do not need to walk on your roof. We can clean your roof by working from a ladder or on the ground.
How would you clean my roof?
We will come and take a look and the severity of the growth on your roof will determine how we will treat it. We apply our solution on the surface of your roof with low pressure, (40-70 psi) allowing our algaecide and surfactants to dwell and eradicate all traces of organic growth. Depending on the type of roof, we will rinse accordingly if needed.
What are those black streaks on my roof?
The black streaks on your roof are called Gloeocapsa magma, which is a type of algae. Gloeocapsa Magma needs zero nutrition to grow on the entirety of your roof because it is nitrogen-fixed. The streaks are indicators of the algae replicating and leaving behind millions or more dead cells on the surface of your roof.
Do you use a pressure washer?
No, we do not use a pressure washer to clean the exterior of your property. We will never use a pressure washer to clean any surface on your property. The only type of pressure we use is strictly for surface cleaning concretes, sidewalks, and more.
Can moss, mold, mildew, algae, and lichen damage my roof?
Yes! All of these can immensely damage your roof but especially algae. Algae is the prime reason for roof failure and your roof can lose up to 50% of its longevity. Divots will form when lichen and moss contaminate your roof. They can deteriorate the protective layer of your roof’s shingle granules.
Can your solution harm my plants?
Although our solution is made to kill plant systems, like algae, lichen, and moss, we protect your plants by keeping them wet and moist throughout our cleaning process. We are trained and place high priority on keeping your plants alive and thriving.
How long does the cleaning process take?
This cannot be answered directly. The amount of time a cleaning takes depends on the size of your home and severity of algae growth. After we take a look at your property, we will be able to give you an estimated time frame.
Should I do anything prior to you cleaning my roof or exterior of my home?
Yes! Please ensure that all windows and doors are shut and that all pets are safely placed inside or in their respective kennels. Also, park vehicles in the garage or away from your home to ensure that no over-spray will collect on your vehicle. If you have any potted plants, please place them inside of your garage or home.
Do you use my water?
Yes, we will use your water in this process. (If this is an issue, please let us know ahead of time so we can work something out on our end. We will have to bring water and this will increase the cost. If you have water problems or a well that is shallow, please also let us know.) We will need access to an exterior water spigot, so please make sure that they are working properly.
What other services do you offer?
We offer an array of residential services, such as: roof cleaning, house washing, gutter cleaning, window cleaning, concrete cleaning, solar panel cleaning, concrete and paver sealing, and rust and calcium removal. We also offer commercial services, such as: building washing, awning and canopy cleaning, parking garage cleaning, rubber/TPO/EPDM roof cleaning, multi-unit cleaning, and graffiti cleaning.
How long will a roof cleaning last?
Generally, roof cleaning lasts for approximately 3-5 years, depending on a few factors, such as: humidity, tree coverage, rainfall, and type of roof you have. If streaking or dark areas reappear before the 3-year mark, we will return and take care of it for you.
Do I need to be home during the estimate or the job?
We would prefer to meet you and converse during the estimate process but you do not need to be present for either.
Do you offer free estimates and demos?
Yes! We offer free estimates and we do demos, upon request, before the job to allow you to see results beforehand.
What if, on the day my cleaning is scheduled, it begins to rain?
If it is a light rain, we can still work. However, we do not work in heavy rainfall. When your surfaces are wet, we cannot properly see the growth or properly allow the solution to dwell. If this happens, we will reschedule your cleaning on a date that is convenient for you.
Are you covered by insurance and are you licensed?
Yes. We carry a general liability in the form of $1,000,000. We are licensed in the State of Arkansas.
Will the cleaning harm the fish in my fish pond?
It is of our utmost importance to maintain the safety and well-being of your fish and we will take safety precautions to ensure this.
